Hello, I'm Annette!

I am a registered massage therapist (RMT).

Having graduated from the New Zealand College of Massage with Diplomas in Health Science (Therapeutic Massage and Massage and Sports Therapy,  I have since also trained in Oncology Massage and  been approved as a RMT for Southern Cross members.

My background includes extensive experience in holistic wellness, and my interest in massage even dates back to childhood when my father would request for massages for his tired aching body.    I have worked with various massage clinics and physiotherapists/chiropractors throughout Auckland.

I am profoundly deaf, and anyone who has met me will know I am extremely proud of my deaf culture.  When I first started massage I was concerned that this was a problem but in practice it appears to be an advantage. I have needed to develop superior observational skills to compensate which have actually assisted in observing and determining the most effective massage techniques. My natural intuition combined with my training, experiences and observational skills help me to understand what is really going on with your body. I have no problems communicating face to face. My speech is excellent so you will have no problem understanding me. Also I have exceptional lip-reading skills which means I can easily understand you.

I pride myself on being thorough with sessions taking in your opinions, previous experiences, feedback to ensure they are tailored to your requirements and needs including encouraging you to be the one in control especially when it comes to pressure applied during the treatment.

I have developed an understanding of the importance of relaxation incorporated in a massage particularly in today's world of busy lives and higher stress levels which can lead to tension and increasing chances of injuries and pain combined with assisting to calm the mind.

I have a passion for helping and educating others so as to help them to manage and alleviate their pain, regain freedom of movement, to restore balance and get more out of life.

My background, education, life experiences and friendliness allow me to be able to deliver a high quality and effective massage.

Anyone can perform a massage, but to provide an effective massage takes training, observation and experience. I'm here to help.

About My Logo

Connections, Pressure, Choice and Speed of Stroke

The connection of the letters on the logo are a representation of how inter-related various areas of the body are. These can cause chain effect reactions within the body, hence the need to understand these interconnections.

A common misconception is that if you experience pain in a particular area then that is the area to massage. Often it is related but more often than not it is elsewhere where the root cause of the discomfort or pain is. This is what I take into account.

The different thicknesses in the logo are intended to high light the importance of applying differing levels of pressure for each situation. Similarly the speed and choice of different massage strokes is equally important.

Different clients react differently to different levels of pressure (of which the client has control). By appropriate selection of different massage strokes at different speeds it is possible to tailor optimum results for each individual client.

To put it simply, it's different strokes for different folks.

And not all massage therapists can effectively do this. I believe I can.
